Miss Amanda Fayeun is the CEO of Mandyfab makeovers. She is a skilled makeup artist and gele artistry pro.

She lets us in to the back curtain to see how she got here, the challenges she face and she also have a piece of advice for upcoming makeup artists.

DA: What inspired you to be a makeup artist?
Mandyfab: I got inspired by the zeal to make people look beautiful with a little bit of makeup. When I see a lady, I start to analyze how her face would look more defined with just eye brows and lipstick.

DA: When did you finally decide to start?
Mandyfab: I decided to start makeup as a business in April 2016. Trust me, I wasn’t ready!

DA: When you decided, what steps did you take? Did you go to a makeup school?
Mandyfab: I was self taught when I decided to go into the business. I didn’t go to a makeup school right away. I kept on watching makeup and gele-tying videos on YouTube back-to-back to help improve my craft.

DA: What challenges did you face?
Mandyfab: When I got my first business call I was scared, but I picked up my makeup bag, delivered my service and my client loved it. And that was literally it. Basically, finance to get good products to work with and lack of confidence in my job was a great challenge for me. Since I was self taught, I just didn’t have that confidence a trained makeup artist would have; and I always felt I must have done something wrong with my application and technique.

DA: How did you overcome them?
Mandyfab: All that fear is gone now. Thanks to @lolade_mlpro makeup academy. I’m extremely confident with my craft now. Finance is still an issue by the way. It has been hard overcoming the financial challenges, but God has been faithful.

DA: What is your advice to upcoming makeup artists?
Mandyfab: My advice to upcoming makeup artist is that they must believe in their crafts, focus on their journey and be consistent. Don’t get discouraged/ distracted by the big names in the beauty industry. Before mlpro and oshewa beauty, we had house of Tara and bmpro. Tomorrow, it just might be you!
When it is our time, we would definitely shine!

DA: Your favourite, Foundation, Powder, Concealer, Eye-shadow palette, Eye liner?
Mandyfab: Favourite foundation, Mary Kay.
Favourite powder, Zikel cosmetics powder palette.
Favourite concealer, L.A girl pro conceal
Favourite Eyeliner, any really dark and long lasting liner is fine with me.

DA: What are the first five steps you’ll advise someone who wants to go into makeup artistry to take?
Mandyfab: -Have the conviction in your heart that it is what you really want to do.
-know that you’re going into the business to render flawless service to your customers and not exactly for the fame or money.
-Find a mentor and find your niche.
-Define your style, perfect it and stay true to it.
-Define your brand, have a logo and most importantly use social media to build your brand.

DA: How did you get your first customers and how did you expand your business?
Mandyfab: Got my first customer through one-on-one dialogue. I told her to call me if she needs makeup for her birthday shoot and yes! She called.
I used and still use social media to promote my jobs. I give out hand bills everywhere I step in. I get referrals from friends and family too.
Basically, it has been God!

DA: How can we reach you?
Mandyfab: Y’all can reach me via phone call or whatsapp on 07035572615.
